PROF. LIN'S LAB HELPS ORGANIZE isCEBT 2019

The 2019 International Symposium on Chemical–Environmental–Biomedical Technology (isCEBT 2019) was successfully held last December 12-16, 2019, at the Huisun Experimental Forest, Nantou County, Taiwan. Prof. Shu-Ping Lin served as one of the executive committee members, while her students served as members of the different student committees. isCEBT is held annually and is organized by universities in Taiwan and Japan "to provide a platform for young researchers in Asia to showcase and discuss their research on chemical, environmental, and biomedical technologies with their counterparts in various universities in the region." PROF. LIN'S LAB HELPS NCHU HOST PROF. KAREN MOXON OF UC DAVIS

Prof. Karen Moxon of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of California, Davis, was invited to National Chung Hsing University to be the speaker of the first Larry Vanderhoef Memorial Lecture last September 11, 2019. She stayed in Taichung for three days, on September 9–11, 2019, during which Prof. Shu-Ping Lin and a couple of her students took Prof. Moxon to 日月潭 (Sun Moon Lake), 春水堂 (Chun Shui Tang), and 逢甲夜市 (Feng Chia Night Market). Prof. Moxon, Prof. Lin, and several professors of NCHU also enjoyed a lovely dinner at 品虹橋 (Pin Hong Qiao). It was a privilege to have Prof. Moxon visit NCHU and to let her experience Taiwan.

A mini-reunion with past lab members was held last August 30, 2019, at 品虹橋 (Pin Hong Qiao) restaurant, Wuquan West 3rd Street, Taichung. Thank you to the following lab alumni and alumnae who graced this special gathering: Angel Chi, Se-Fen Chen, Wayne Chiang, Bernie Hsu, Lisa Tsai, and Jean Tseng!
FUKUI UNIVERSITY STUDENTS VISIT THE LAB
August 27, 2019
Prof. Shu-Ping Lin's lab and Prof. Ching-Chou Wu's lab (Dept. of Bio-industrial Mechatronics Engineering) jointly hosted students Hinaco, Chihiro, Masami, Narumi, and Miya from Fukui University in Japan last August 23–27, 2019, as part of the academic exchange program between National Chung Hsing University and Fukui University. The students performed guided research experiments in the two labs as well as visited various tourist attractions in Taichung to experience Taiwanese food and culture.
